Hmm... file LATIN.RNH is:

.break
.left margin 0
.right margin 72

1 LATIN
.break
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed
convallis auctor lacinia. Etiam ut erat metus. Aliquam ac
sapien sapien. Phasellus sit amet feugiat erat, sed iaculis
risus. Proin ut accumsan lorem. Nullam vitae faucibus
tellus. Interdum et malesuada fames ac ante ipsum primis in
faucibus. Nam non fringilla dui. Ut eu lectus arcu. Duis
rutrum mauris quis congue scelerisque.
.blank
Format: LATIN

If I then issue "$ RUNOFF LATIN.RNH" to produce LATIN.HLP, I get this as
scene in EDT:

1 LATIN<CR><LF>
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed convallis<CR><LF>
auctor lacinia. Etiam ut erat metus. Aliquam ac sapien sapien.<CR><LF>
Phasellus sit amet feugiat erat, sed iaculis risus. Proin ut accumsan<CR><LF>
lorem. Nullam vitae faucibus tellus. Interdum et malesuada fames ac<CR><LF>
ante ipsum primis in faucibus. Nam non fringilla dui. Ut eu lectus<CR><LF>
arcu. Duis rutrum mauris quis congue scelerisque.<CR><LF>
<CR><LF>
Format: LATIN<CR><LF>

This file's attributes are:

Record format: Variable length, maximum 0 bytes, longest 74 bytes
Record attributes: None <<<===== note: no carriage control specified

If I then type LATIN.HLP, I get:

1 LATIN
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed convallis
auctor lacinia. Etiam ut erat metus. Aliquam ac sapien sapien.
Phasellus sit amet feugiat erat, sed iaculis risus. Proin ut accumsan
lorem. Nullam vitae faucibus tellus. Interdum et malesuada fames ac
ante ipsum primis in faucibus. Nam non fringilla dui. Ut eu lectus
arcu. Duis rutrum mauris quis congue scelerisque.

Format: LATIN

Where are these the double space lines?

What RUNOFF .FLAGS have you specified as enabled? Have you specified
.SPACING in your .RNH files???
