I have been playing with SSD (SOlid State Drives) in Alphaserver DS15
They actually work!!!
I am assuming that TRIM is built into Alpha OVMS or can be patched with 8.4?
TRIM (ssd version of defragmentation) is required otherwise these
drives slow down to the speed of Molasses on a winter's day after a few
months of read/writes.

Booting is a little quicker than a SCSI U320 (I put them on a scsi bus
with a converter and mounted into a hot plug frame)
Backup is lightening fast
I am sure standard disk access functions are lightening fast. The drives
are 6g downspeeded to 3G in U320 SCSI converter so roughly the same a s
a U160 SCSI Drive in bus throughput

I used a 120GB but the 240GB works fine I am sure

FYI

The converter/frame is the expensive part

So the 120GB SSD for Alpha is $449
The 240GB SSD for Alpha is $649
