Sami, here's a suggestion for you. It appears you're in a pretty good
position to get this scp error formally and quickly resolved. Please
check with your OpenVMS system manager and see if they can resolve this
case locally. Failing that, please ask them to ring up HP support (or
whomever is your primary path for OpenVMS questions and support) for a
look at this configuration and this issue.
Given you're probably still working at that same organization, I can
assume a couple of things about this situation. It's entirely
understandable why you've been obfuscating the file and directory names
and expurgating details from your postings, and it's also clear why
you've been evading some of the questions. (The organizational
necessity for secrecy is unfortunately not helping the discussion of
the problem here proceeed apace, though.) I would also assume that
your organization almost certainly has an HP support contract for
OpenVMS and for TCP/IP Services and the other installed software, and
also almost certainly has HP patch access, and most likely has support
for the particular Linux server involved here.
Both TCP/IP Services ssh and sftp have certainly had a few bugs in
recent years, so a bug in scp is certainly conceivable. Or there's
just something wrong with the scp command syntax here, or with the
Linux server configuration that you're working with, or an
incompatibility with TCP/IP Services and the ssh daemon in use on the
Linux server. But this determination and subsequent resolution will
likely require somebody that can discuss the command and the details of
the configuration, and that likely can't happen here in comp.os.vms
newsgroup. Certainly not as quickly as a call to HP (or whoever's been
NDA'd and vetted to look at these cases) can resolve this.
ps: all of the above is based on public information.
