If you wish a more elegant solution, then look to reduce and simplify, 
and to eliminate code.

Complex solutions to simple problems are usually the antithesis of elegance.

Is the hard-coding of the debugging logical name a problem you actually 
have to solve in the DCL code?

Or is that DCL trading off added complexity and reduced elegance for 
some other benefit that's not obvious to me?
