Etc etc. I am probably not the only one thinking that back in the day,
hardware, software and support all came from DEC and it was all good.
This seems like a) a woman filing charges against her husband for rape
AND b) wanting to stay married.
Most were surprised when Compaq bought DEC. (IIRC, the Compaq founders
flipped a coin to decide whether to start a computer company or open a
Mexican restaurant.) Most were surprised that HP bought Compaq. It
would make sense for someone to buy the key elements of DEC from their
current owners---say VMS, Rdb, compilers etc---and reboot (no pun
intended) the company. If Richard Branson is taking people into space,
then this should be possible as well.
