Well..  16 ports is probably overkill.  I want it mostly for monitoring consoles.  I have 3 Alphas, 2 IA64's, a MSA1500cs, SAN switch, Infoserver and 3 APC SU3000RM3 UPS's.  The UPS's I want to monitor the serial ports with an app so I can tell the systems to shutdown when the backup kicks in.  I could probably get away with an 8-port and just swap the serial lines to the console ports as needed, but if I can get ports cheaply enough then why not.
