The picture link you posted didn't work for me (I think it was maintenance time at the server) but based on the picture that Hans posted and the info from Hoff, I'd say they were right. You're looking for information on the Compaq 4200 or 4300 StorageWorks shelves. The difference between the two is just the SCSI bus speed. The 4200 is UltraSCSI 2 (80MB/s) while the 4300 is UltraSCSI 3 (160MB/s). There also were 4400 series, I believe but I have not seen any face to face. They have modular construction and on the back are I/O ports which are replaceable and interchangeable. They I/O modules come in single and dual port versions of both speeds. Single port I/O gives access to 14 drives on the shelf to one SCSI bus. Dual port I/O gives access to 7 drives on each port. I have a number of these shelves I got on Ebay for reasonable price. They are in my basement "datacenter" and although not whisper quite they are not as loud as some of the severs they are connected to (RX2600, DL360 G5, DS20E).
I thought I had documentation stored somewhere but all I can find a the moment are a couple of old "QuickSpecs" that look to be still on the HP site

Here is manual online that covers most of the basic info:
