DEC didn't follow through in a reasonable manner.

Don't forget the perspective, "who would want a computer in their home?"

I'm sure the concept of a tablet or smart phone never occurred to some ....

Now, "desktop to data center" doesn't mean that all parts of that needed
to use a VAX or Alpha CPU. Seamless integration so that all the devices
could talk to each other would be an adequate implementation.

For a "user", the hardware and OS really doesn't matter. All that
matters is that the device serves the user's needs.

For someone developing software for VMS, a VMS system is normally
required, and anyway, who would want to develop software on a smart
phone, or tablet, or even a notebook? Certainly not me. An LK type of
keyboard is mandatory, at least for me.

One of my bitches is the widescreen monitors. At any type of reasonable
price 19 inch 4:3 is the largest I can find.

Phillip, I salute you for being stubborn enough to run a cluster in your
home, and to continue using VMS. But seriously, VMS is not "best" at
everything, and continuing to refuse to select the best tool for each
job is just beating your head against a very strong wall ....

Web browser comes to mind ....

Enough rant for today ....
