Now, if you were pointed to somebody that would want say, $25,000 up 
front, with no guarantee of success, you'd probably ask why someone even 
bothered to mention them.  Huh ???

Maybe we sometimes make some reasonable assumptions.

Now, if you had specifically said "this is important, and I need to 
recover the data at all costs", then you'd probably have gotten the 
pointers to such people.

Hey, the advice is worth what you paid for it.  Don't get so defensive.
