Email?  Next time ask'm how their own networking folks do that sort of 
server monitoring.   It very likely won't be via email, unless they're 
specifically testing an email server.

Server uptime would show there was no OS-level outage, though the 
cluster won't like having the connection offline and would have either 
split off the lower-voting lobe or wedged the whole show pending the 
return of quorum, depending on the details of the members and VOTES and 
EXPECTED_VOTES configuration.

That, and apparently also confused by HP suggesting email as a 
monitoring tool.  FWIW, email gets you nowhere with monitoring during a 
quorum hang, though some driver-level network traffic will still be 
visible.  All snmp responses should be offline, though the MP will 
still answer.

Nagios or the Icinga fork, Zabbix, Hyperic, Munin, various commercial 
packages, etc., depending on your budget, and your willingness to wade 
around in monitoring code.   HP almost certainly has a monitoring 
package — no, not email — that might be worth a look, too.
