Going back a couple of years a colleague who lived out in the sticks was 
on a "DSL connection" which was basically equivalent to the ISDN speeds 
I enjoyed 13 years ago, and that was the best she could get in her area.

We took it in turns to download stuff ourselves and put it on optical 
media for her.
