Well, given your shadow sets being distributed across nodes a Gigabit 
link would speed up shadow copies/merges remarkably.

Gigabit cards for AlphaServers are easy to get if you follow Steven 
Schweda's instructions to "re-brand" Compaq Gigabit cards (he mentioned 
that in the previous thread).

For the masses, wireless is still far from Gigagbit speed. To make 
things worse, wireless connections usually use a "shared medium", so 
speeds drop with an increasing number of users in the same cell. (This 
may not be an exact technical explanation, but describes the resulting 
situation).
