I seem to remember using PowerTerm, and my memory is that I liked it. 
Don't know what happened to it, cannot find it in a quick search.

If a lack of a secure protocol is mandatory, then I'll agree that 
SmarTerm has a problem.  It's a TelNet client with no encryption.  For 
in house use here, where there is only me, and no secrets, I can say 
that isn't an issue.
