That was me. Thanks for the confirmation I'm not going nuts or
missed something really stupid. :-)

If the keypad goes into application keypad mode (ie: when using EVE)
then PF1 through PF4 (and hence the EDT keypad) work just fine; I use
the EDT keypad in EVE daily from a PuTTY session.

It's just that those escape codes are not sent when the keypad is in
normal keypad mode.
