There is a version of the HSD05 that does plug into the Q-bus.

This widget was sold with later-generation VAX 4000 series boxes, as
the DSSI gear was being replaced with SCSI gear.
The StorageWorks SBB bricks and shelves are cheap, are handy mounts for
disks, and are very quiet in comparison to the leaf blower shelves.
