I picked up a power 5 machine with aix 6 recently and got quite
a few frowns when I mentioned it. However, it really is a very
well sorted machine, with excellent system management tools,
though there was a slight learning curve getting to grips with all
the ibm terminology around the edges. Once you get in though,
it's fine and everything is there, including the good old cde
desktop that we all remember. Truckloads of open source software
available as well. I guess it's reputation must relate to older
versions, but looks all there to me...
