What is strange to me is this: IBM is willing to fund Linux (an OS that IBM doesn't own) so that POWER has a future, while at the same time HP is unwilling to continue funding OpenVMS (an OS that HP does own) in order to keep Itanium going. 

Makes me wonder if the people currently running HP know that Itanium originally started out as an HP project before they brought in Intel to help out.
