Thanks Volker, I hadn't seen that in my searches through help.

In the interim, I added MPW_HILIMIT=32000 and MPW_WAITLIMIT=32000 and the excessive paging went away.  DNFS1ACP still uses between 98-100% CPU every 30 seconds or so, but there is almost no soft paging any more.

As I am on a Hobbyist licence I don't have access to any patches, so there may be outstanding bugs, but it doesn't appear that I will be able to fix them any time soon :(
