Empirically, the OS X Server configurations do work.  I am familiar 
with a number of Internet-exposed OS X Server boxes.

You're correct that VMS is not a mass-market security target.  But when 
you're not a mass-market security target, there are some very nasty 
implications and risks that can arise, and that can surprise.   Some
