[Info-vax] Getting tape drive errors make no sense

Even DDS drives have tolerances. While it is relatively rare for this to happen, it is possible that the DDS3 drive that is making the tape is a bit out of spec.  Try reading the tape on the machine that created it.  If that works, I would suspect that the DDS3 drive (writer) is out of spec and the source of the problem.  These tape drives can get out of alignment.  Re-alignment is possible with the right equipment and tapes (not a DIY job).

You can also place the hotswap DS$ drive on to the source machine and try to create the tape that way.
