OK, skimmed through the OP too quickly.  My post wasn't helpful. Sorry...

You're getting parity errors on read on some drives and not others.

I'd get the copy done from the drive that can read without errors as
soon as possible.  The problem could stem from any number of sources,
but tape deterioration or tape being written originally on a dirty
drive come to mind.  The main thing is to get a clean copy of the
saveset as soon as you can.
