When I alluded to VMS having already been ported to x86, it was far more
as a joke, in a context where Hoff would have done this during lunch
hour or spare time. (more meant as a compliment to Hoff's capabilities
and expertise).

In the context of HP having to decide on future of IA64, I never said
that HP had ported VMS. Oracle documents shows that HP had decided
against this. And HP execs stated quite categorically and steadily after
a point in time that BCS operating systems would not be ported beyond IA64.

What I did state is that as part of feasability study, some engineers
may have toyed with some code to test certain aspects. Even though some
feasability studies result in some code and basic tests, they do not
result in a port. They are there to decide whether a porting project
should be started or not.

You are the one who exagerated what I said, or could not distinguish
between the jokes about Hoff porting VMS in an afternoon and the
feasability HP would have undertaken when deciding on future of IA64.
