[Info-vax] probably a simple issue...

I'm sure one of you gurus will point out the error of my ways...
I have an OpenVMS 7.3 cluster here that I was tinkering with. Previously, the cluster was running with two independent nodes with independent system disks. I decided to convert them to a single system disk with a shadow copy on the second node for DR on the aging drives.
Things seem to have gone well.. I simply reconfigured one node as a satellite. The issue that I'm having seems to have something to do with the decnet configuration but I can't figure out where to start solving it. Here are the symptoms:
* From each node, I can use 'set host' to connect to the other node... but NOT with the system named. I can only connect successfully using the decnet address (set host 1.3, for example). The name will not work in either direction.
* From the satellite node I can see the cluster system volume and other drives on the main node... I can also mount the local drive with no problems.. but even though a "mount/system/cluster" succeeds, the satellite volume is not visible from the other node. In fact, I can't mount it from the other node, period. The message that I get is "no such device available."
* Phone on each node works fine.. but cannot phone to the other node. Decnet connection fails.
* "monitor cluster" tells me that it cannot connect to the remote node from either system.
I appreciate any suggestions. As I've posted in the past, it has been a very long time since I've worked with VMS as an administrator. At this point I'm really just tinkering.
Thanks!
