The Xeon Ivy Bridge EX chip and the ProLiant DL580 box appear to be
where Intel and HP apparently think various of the folks now using VMS
— those that are porting from VMS to x86-64 — will be looking for with
HP servers.

Haven't seen a detailed, independent technical review of a server based
on the new Xeon posted yet, nor any QuickSpecs on the DL580. Closest
available articles are probably these discussions of the Ivy Bridge EX
and of the ProLiant DL580 G8 / Gen8 / Generation8 server:

Intel has the usual lower-level chip docs available:

The HP online ordering channels are apparently not open yet. There are
general prices listed; ranging from ~$13K to ~$50K+.
Of course, a native application port from VMS to another OS is going to
be (more) expensive for most folks, too.
