[Info-vax] SYSMAN - insufficient event flags?

I posted this to hopefully hook an answer while I was investigating, but I found the cause fairly quickly. The command $ SHOW SYS/PROC=SMI* showed 14 processes with names of the form SMI$<username>_<n> (and of course one for SMI$SERVER). I guess SMI server just ran out of event flags.
A closer look showed all those processes were all running SYS$SYSTEM:SHOW.EXE. Maybe that means nothing or maybe it means something!
They weren't subprocesses, so killing SMI$SERVER might not do a lot. It might be better to kill the 14 processes, some of which started 5 days ago.
And the user in question - who owned all those SMI$<username>_<n> processes - was an operator! I think a look at the tools that Op's use might be in order...
