AFAIK / IIRC / Check the SPD
<<http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/spdtcpip57.pdf> and chat with HP
support / etc ...
Details and limitations that I've bumped into or am otherwise aware of:
No TOE; was on the public roadmap for a while, but never materialized.
No iSCSI support; iSCSI EAK and latent in V5.7, but no support. No
CIFS/SMB client. IPv6 configuration limits; setting specific addresses
has issues
<http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Networking/ipv6-configuration-static-IP-provided-but-no-place-to-put-it/m-p/6270285>
. No firewall. No integrated logging via syslog/syslog-ng. HP SMH
security: <http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1021>. No SSL/TLS support
for POP or IMAP, and no SMTP submission port support. No mechanisms
akin to SpamAssassin / AMaViS / Postfix in terms of configuration
flexibility. No SSL, PPTP or L2TP/IPSec VPN client or server support.
No IPSec support. No SNMPv3 support. No WiFi controller support.
Probably a few other details I've not recalled here or not bumped into.
Yes, VSI has a whole pile of potential projects here, if (when?) they
decide to bring TCP/IP Services forward, and that's before considering
such details as improving the diagnostics and ease-of-use, and
addressing user interface issues. This includes addressing such issues
and details such as how the V5.7 SMTP configuration-file interface
defaults to an open relay <http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1844> when
the configuration file is not present (and the expected configuration
file location does change).
