If that's the problem then, apart from your unzip solution, suitable
tools do exist under Linux in the form of the unix2dos and dos2unix
tools.

However, I _strongly_ recommend anyone wanting to use these tools to
read the man pages for them first so they don't accidentally clobber
their files.
