   Depends on what you mean by "system programming".  Fortran is not
   used to write the OS, but it has been heavily used for just
   about everything else on VMS by one customer or another, including
   lots of code that depends on system calls, and lots of utilities
   that I've used when I was doing device drivers.

   And that's something I've only seen on RSX and VMS.
