Ayup.   Between something like OS X Spotlight search, and grep and 
other command-line tools, and what's available in some of the scripting 
languages, and Solr or Sphinx, the VMS SEARCH mechanisms and (lack of) 
libraries are very limited and limiting, and performance is glacial.
