One business driver would be design, CAD, and such.

But without facts, I'm going to guess that gamers is a much bigger market.

Just look at the marketing of desktop CPUs.  Sometimes a game with one.  They 
know who is buying the top end CPUs and video cards.  Sure don't need top end to 
run a browser and email.
