Is it so unreasonable to expect people paid by HP to do the work actually
check things they have done to make sure they work to the point you feel
obligated to supplement that in your spare time?

There aren't thousands of VMS bulletin boards and forums and mailing lists.
All they would have to do is follow the SIG and comp.os.vms and that would
cover 95% of all the public discussion.

But they would have to give a damn first, and apparently they are not
paying people to do that. If they find anybody who does care, they fire him.

There are HP people on the lists. Either they are just as unable as anyone
else to straighten out the mess over there or are afraid if they attempt to
do so they will be "rightsized" at the earliest possible opportunity. Or,
they fall into the "ask me if I give a damn" category.

I hope there's a nice holiday bonus for you at the end of the year. Or who
knows, even a job @hp.com working on the website.

Maybe someday HP will be aware of it.

In all seriousness I can understand your frustration. What I don't
understand is why you feel responsible for this in any way. Presumably you
or your company are paying HP and somebody should think about whether to
continue doing that in light of the never-ending series of screwups.
