The last version of HDF5 I tried to build was 1.8.11 (see needed patches
at http://nchrem.tnw.tudelft.nl/openvms/software2.html#HDF5lib ) both
for Alpha and Itannium.
The tests are passed for at least 99%.
The patch also include a "work-around" for a really strange bug in the
C-compiler for Itanium.
If I find some time I'll try to merge this version with the new 1.8.15
version and the dropped VMS-support and see if I can get something working.
