Then you are not using a GUI properly. For instance, you can have a
DECterm (or xterm) do do command line, AND a Decwindows TPU/EVE window,
and perhaps a "GUI version of MONITOR that would display system activity
all in separate windows running at the same time.

The productivity improvemenst over working on a character cell terminal
where you  can only have one "window" running at a time is HUGE.
