Deathrow is not using shadowing.  Not enough hardware for that.

Yep.  Some lower-end configurations use shared SCSI, older clusters 
used shared DSSI here.

OpenVMS doesn't like partial volumes, nor — beyond what was necessary 
to get Itanium port working — does VMS support disk partitioning.
