Actually, I think you're missing something that can be positive, 
assuming that you want such things.

If say, every week, there was some new snippet of VMS news, and people 
(including news people) were to start following such news, then it would 
be exposure for VMS.  People got short memories.  Just look at US 
politicians and elections.  To keep their attention, you got to stay in 
front of them.  Not every couple months or so.

Also remember news doesn't have to always be good news.  It's staying at 
the top of people's minds that is sometimes important.
