Stephen's own docs says this:

You should now be in a configuration menu system within the configuration tool, as implemented within the particular controller BIOS. Make changes as required for your local configuration and local requirements. (This command does not function when the SRM console is set to serial. You must have the SRM CONSOLE environment variable set to GRAPHICS and not SERIAL, and you must be on the graphics console.)

RR: So that specific environment won't work in serial.

The SA6402 menus are also available w/o the RUN command from a serial console port but I don't know if the alternate keymappings work there.
