This probably isn't too useful, but...
Way-back-when, I bought 2 DS10's new from one of the distributors (Pioneer?) that had a really good deal (or a really bad pricing error). I ordered memory for them from Kingston (at that time they listed a model for the DS10), since none of their distributors carried it.
The memory arrived, I installed it, and it didn't work. I called Kingston and once I got to someone familiar with their more obscure parts, he said something like "Oops - we thought that would work, let me get back to you". A week or so later, they sent me different modules that did work.
So, there may be some subtleties involving the info programmed into the SPD (serial EEPROM, not Software Product Description 8-).
If nobody gets around to it before I do, I'll pull one of the boxes out of storage (it was replaced with an AlphaVM emulator) and see what the modules say.
