[Info-vax] OpenVMS x86-64 and RDB and DB's in general on OpenVMS

VSI is in fairly regular discussions with Oracle and these exchanges started more or less on Day 1 of VSI. Months ago we met with the Oracle engineers to discuss porting to x86. We talked about this at last fall's Boot Camp and the follow-on Oracle Technical Forums. Given the large number of VMS customers that use either Oracle or Rdb it is difficult to imagine moving the current customer base forward without those two products. As is always true with Oracle you will not see any official announcements until very near the time a product ships.

Porting Oracle and Rdb to VMS are both huge, but very different, undertakings. Both are being planned and should be quite similar to the previous porting efforts.
