Well, Arne stated that he had installed Cassandra on Windows, and that 
it is a pure Java environment. At the same time the prerequisites state 
that on a 32 bit Windows systems you need to have Visual C++ 2008 
runtime installed. That seems to be a contradiction.

Furthermore this part of the discussion is about Cassandra, not VMS. In 
the absence of a modern Java version on VMS it isn't possible to run or 
to try to run Cassandra on VMS.
