How far are you from a Central Office... I know I can get a T1
here -- but no way I can justify the $$$.
I couldn't get DSL... there's a fiber piece sliced into the copper in the area
that keeps DSL from being available. The other side of the street had DSL but
they were on a different phone exchange in the same Central Office.
But when FIOS came in it just worked. Except the phone doesn't work after
a power fail unless I pull the battery from the UPS and fully reset the FIOS
Optical Network Tranceiver box... Some wierd problem we had.
Box power supply failed last year so perhaps that took the bug with it.
With house power down I've had both ethernet and cable tv working
with judicious use of small desktop UPS locations around the house.
I'm debating the whole house natural gas generator after 13 days powerless
when Sandy flooded the local power substation.

Digital had it then. Don't you wish you could buy it now!
