The right answer is NOT comp.os.vms vs. new media, but rather ALL 
of the various media.

Reminds me of when we started to switch from notesfiles in HP.

Suggesting anything other than notesfiles was always followed up 
with many protective viewpoints like web conferencing is for kids,
not real conferencing.

Heck, imho, notesfiles are still the best conferencing media. How I 
miss the "next unseen" command !!

(next unseen allowed one to enter a conference and only see the 
notes you have not read yet)
