The example I keep throwing at you when you say that is to think of
the additional functionality you didn't know the software had and
which was just recently discovered.

IOW, what about the unknown vulnerabilities in the software ?

If you only have binary images which are no longer supported, then how
do you get the vulnerability fixed so you can resume normal production
operations ?
