Could be construed as being very smart or in your case, a bit too smart and not ideally what you wanted :-)

I have not found it hence the question if someone knows where it exists :-)

I know I read something once about a certain block on a disk marking a disk as a shadow master or not but that's about as far as I can remember with my ageing grey matter. Your comment about booting from a physical disk set the right context for me and stopping to think about it, this makes sense that it's set as a console parameter

I'll have to have a look at next reboot then, which just so happens to be tonight :-)
