RMS has supported transactions since longer than I can remember. The  RU 
API was replaced by DECdtm and is a fabulous piece of engineering.

Combine this with hotTIP and your RMS can participate in ACID 
transactions with MS SQL Server.

With the death of SOAP and WS-transactions and the REST of that 
bloatware. (See what I did there?) it's hard to understand why a version 
of TIP does not make a resurgence.
