I have to *assume* that COPY, when executing the wildcard processing,
opens files one by one in a way where, if the file metadata fits the
search criteria, the file is ready to be copied.
So when it its a file that is locked, it complains even if that file,
should it have been succesfully opened, would have revealed it didn't
fit the search criteria.
Meanwhile, I would assume that DIRECTORY always opens the files with the
equivalent of /IGNORE-INTERLOCK to report current status.
All of the abobe is an ASSUMPTION based on the behaviour reported by the
OP. ( COPY complained about file locked on a file that didn't fit the
search criteria).
