First, there are the Operating System DVD, the Layered Product CD, and the Documentation CD. But here is also a fair amount of paper - the EULA, Release Notes, Cover Letter, Installation/Upgrade Manual, License Management Utility Manual, and the VSI Special Licensing Letter. There might even be a couple more that I cannot remember off the top of my head.
We use HP Media Production which is right up the highway a few miles from us. We know their process and they know us, plus they make it easy to slide nicely into the HP June Product Launch which has been our target.
Meeting our own end-game criteria plus HP's entry-to-launch criteria consumes just about everyone for a couple months. Nothing new, of course, but when you review and evaluate all the work at the readiness review it is just as stunning now as it was in the past how much can be accomplished. This one was different, though, because it had little to do with VMS itself. Rather, it was - can we get enough of our former testing and evaluation process in place to convince ourselves we had something worthy to ship in a workable time period.
