Donno. I don't see a particular difference. Emulators and hardware
can change timing. Changing timing derails applications, whether it's
a commercial application or some application with tighter requirements.
Seems to be different aspects of the same mess. The same can of
worms. Maybe you presume OP was using the same definition of real
time you're familiar with, or maybe the OP wasn't, or maybe the OP
might not realize that this is a general issue with applications
running on faster processors or emulated processors or Linux or not.
I've presumed a more general usage of timing issues involving emulation
here, and that and the usage of other operating systems are clearly an
anathema to the sentiments of the sole arbiter of real-time here in the
newsgroup, and for that I beg your forgiveness. I shall do a dozen
interrupts in a millisecond, using only ladder logic in a baroque PLC
of your choice. Will that be sufficient penance for my transgressions
of terminology?
