And that logical names exist in process, job, group, system, or
cluster-wide context.
UNIX shell symbols are like DCL symbols: visible only to the current
process, but by default used to initialize the symbols for a
subprocess.
Sigh. 1970's software technology that has been set asiide in favor
of 1960's software technology.
