Item 3, hardware caveats: check your own DCL routines used during system startup for device names. Not only disk devices also network devices. E.g. LAT is restricted on my systems to one ethernet device and a logical name points to that device. The DEFINE command on one system was in LAT$STARTUP.COM.
If your system uses LAD/LAST the same applies.
The way queues were set up are often poorly documented.
Software compatibility is something else. Both run a V8.4 flavour so it shouldn't be a problem. For Alphas recompiling gave code optimized for the new machine.
