You complain about confusion, yet here you persist in using Windows — 
which can be confusing and arcane enough, and which still doesn't 
provide integrated PDF support — and non-functioning Adobe software?   
Maybe reconsider what you think is confusing?   OS X certainly has its 
messes, but it works decently well, and the base distro and iWork 
includes most or all of what most folks want.
